Fic commentary for UNIT: Transition. Spoilers for the story and also for Image of the Fendahl. Requested by jjporI started writing this sensibly last night and then John posted the suggestion of character commentaries and being used to writing for This Time Round, I’d already been having hard work squashing, and well, this is what happened (probably ( Read more... )

Okay... Wasn't expecting that. But it was fun!

Me: Well, yes, but it was the Doctor who went charging off from Image of the Fendahl without bothering to go back and tell Colby that actually he and Leela didn’t get blown up along with the Priory, which he must have been left wondering.

Colby: Not until you wrote this, thanks.

You heartless fellow, Colby!

This is what I was complaining about! I managed to do First Year Camp sensibly, but was fighting not to do Liz and the Brig commentating on their little AU... I'm going to go write my story.

No, no, I mean he never got written in anything (as far as I know) until I did this and landed him with more problems. Heh. But he could just be a bit heartless, I suppose. ;-)

I knew this was what you were complaining about because I was reading it while we were commenting elsewhere. Multitask, why yes, I do!

Ah, okay...

Multi-tasking? I'm all admiration. I can barely remember the one thing I'm trying to do... ;-)

Heh - I think this is great - not only is it as amusing as a very amusing thing, and nicely in-character too, but remains quite illuminating of the thought processes that went into writing this - I thought Aunt Mildred was great, so don't regret Sarah not having a bigger part (although she is making up for it in Strange Weapons), and I find it interesting to know which characters you moved around and substituted and what story decisions influenced those alterations. I do find this sort of thing fascinating, though. Nice to see that many of the unused elements are getting to see the light of day after all in the sort-of sequel.

Hmmm, yes, killing poor Leakey - I'd forgotten about that...*shakes head*

It's typical This Time Round. For characters to complain about authors is just standard and Storytime! features their full and frank opinions on playing princes/princesses/villains (and on one occasion seven dissatisfied Doctors as seven dwarfs). john_elliott and I had the same TTR reaction to the proposal and that just set me off again.

Yes, poor Leakey. I only did it to get Remnants out of my head. Heh, heh, mind killing the dog is one of those ultimate no-nos, so that was fun. :-)

I couldn't get rid of Heather. She was vaguely Sam from Spooks, if Sam was evil.
