We've been packing up the office today for our move tomorrow and in amongst the endless rubbish for the recycling pile and official bits and bobs, I found a scrap of a story I wrote for a Yuletide request. I looked up the request, and my effort would need serious work to match, but it amused me. So I typed it up, not having time for much else ( Read more... )

I had to check twice to see if you really said New Tricks - and you did!! I giggled all the way through this. I especially love Gerry's inner monologue-voice!

Heh. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I was obviously planning to do something with it for Yuletide, but the moment has passed I feel. It made me grin, too, when I found it out of the blue.

And then I went downstairs yesterday and New Tricks had started again, and Gerry and Sandra were posing as husband and wife; he was asking for trouble and she was looking daggers.

Alun Armstrong is really just so brilliant in it, though.

Heh, I suppose you know that Dennis Waterman and Amanda Redman did have an affair early 1980s I think?

Love the story and hope you write some more fics for this show (which, yes, I love).

No, I didn't know! That's even more amusing.

I don't know - I picked it up as a Yuletide prompt last year, but if inspiration strikes, who knows? It is a fun show, I agree!

It might be mentioned in Dennis Waterman's book, ReMinder. If/when you hear the new series is going to start, please let me know! I love this show a lot and it's always fun to see who's going to guest star: Anthony (Stewart) Head, Anthony Valentine, Michael Maloney, Clive Francis, George Baker, Richard Wilson, Richard Briars.

You write these two very well, the banter that's playful yet an underlying thing there that these two do so well.
