I'm glad you did do this one. It's perfect Seven and Ace. I particularly liked the line:

absolutely no blowing up the surgeon

which made me laugh.

And:

“You mean it isn’t going to hurt a bit, it’s going to hurt a lot?”

is exactly what I used to think when doctors said it wouldn't hurt a bit.

Their interactions in this are so sweet.

I've got a nasty feeling that the Professor probably got branded as well and isn't letting on, because that seems like something he's do (but it would all work out in the end, so no sense in worrying about it)

And, heh, why wasn't the Doctor also branded was something that only occurred to me a while after I'd written it - I had it in my head quite firmly that Ace had been claimed and therefore tagged but he hadn't, and they were both still in some sort of holding area. I did have a brief try at including some explanation like that, but since I was writing a snippet like this from the Doctor's POV it just detracted from it. But, er, yes. *looks sheepish*
