... either a miracle happened, or we're in an alternate universe, for, as of yesterday, there are now 97 missing Doctor Who episodes instead of 106

It's great, isn't it? I mean, I've no idea when I'll get my hands on them - but they exist! And one day, I will. And that's incredible. And, yes - won't it be lovely to see the Brigadier when he was only a Colonel and nobody knew he'd be a legend?
I am most excited about Web of Fear for this very reason. More of Nicholas Courtney playing Alastair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart!!!!!!!
I have the Target novel of Web of Fear, so I know the story -- can't wait to actually see it! -- but I know nothing about Enemy of the World. There's an evil Bond villain who looks like the Doctor?! Actually, don't tell me -- I think I want to go into it cold.
Oh, yes, it's lovely when there's a Classic Who adventure you know nothing about - I still have the very odd one here and there waiting for me and I get quite ridiculously annoyed if I suddenly get spoiled for them!
I've read the novelisations of both of these - the Enemy of the World in particular - and seen the previously sole surviving episode of each, so... basically what I know of both is very good and I'm delighted we've got them back! I'm only sorry Nicholas Courtney is no longer here to see that they've finally retrieved the Brigadier's first story.
It's party time, definitely! Just goes to show, you should never listen to people who tell you that something can't happen. It's so great that we've got a bit more Trout, and two more (well, very nearly) adventures. And what a restoration job.
Now, back to dreaming about missing Adam Adamants and Ian Hendry Avengers. :) Well, you never know...
Well, listening to them - as long as I'm not the person trying to find eps - helps keep my expectations low. But... yes!!! \o/
And, no, you never know! There could easily be other things out there, if somebody's found Abominable Snowmen that didn't melt despite 45 years in Africa.
No, it is still burninated TV. These film reels escaped, but other copies of these same episodes were burned and the original videotape wiped. People took Patrick Troughton being silly on a beach and threw it into a skip as worthless. We are incredibly, incredibly lucky that someone retained one copy. It is still a post on which I mention again that I have FEELINGS about destroying TV. My tag stands. Sadly. ;-D
And, aww, now take care!! Yuletide will still be around for two whole months and more yet! *hugs JT*
Aww, yeah, I see what you mean. :P I wasn't exactly trying to correct your tag (I am so bad at communicating with a headache :S), I was just being epically excited that because of how digital downloading and copying (and the BBC's hard work at restoration) works, some of the episodes have magically got themselves de-burninated now! :D
It's, it's, it's a little like "My son that was dead is alive again, he was lost and is found." ;-) *is very tiny and excitable* (I get excited about the animated recons, too. But not as much. :D)
So excited right there with you! Are you waiting for the DVDs? Can you download from iTunes? Because if it's a cost issue, I would like nothing more than to buy a fellow fan the downloads, but I can't make the DVDs appear any faster. ;)
Aw, that is incredibly sweet of you! That is one reason, because I am trying to be careful - but the main one is I don't have iTunes (I view it as a tool with which to download files; it seems to imagine it has a mission to take over my computer and organise my life) and that I have difficulty watching TV on my computer while I'm ill (also my computer objects, too) and no means of turning the downloads into a watchable DVD for my TV. (In theory, I have technology that should do it, but... it just won't! MY pc is too old I think.) So, Enemy will be going on my Christmas list - along with The Reign of Terror and other things! But that is so kind of you to offer! I wish I could take you up on it!! ♥
I am happy that they exist - and one day, I will see them. Which, compared to the beginning of the week, is quite simply, a miracle. :-)
