Assorted Icons

Sep 14, 2011 21:23

Excuse the spammage tonight, but I have decided that over the next few days, I will post all the uploaded but unposted icons I have. Some of them are now very old (but obviously I deleted anything I really didn't like). I kept thinking I would do more of each, but even if I do, they'll look different now, and it's getting silly ( Read more... )

julia sawalha, inkheart, charles hawtrey, allo allo, i capture the castle, sid james, joan sims, hattie jacques, wdytya, angela douglas, carry on films, icons, bill nighy, inspector alleyn

I've taken 'Allo 'Allo #4 (Michelle) and a whole stack of Carry On icons. Thank you so much! I'll credit you in my userpics when I upload them. &hearts

Thanks! Glad you liked them. A lot of these have been sitting on Photobucket or my harddrive for ages. I did do heaps of Carry On icons when I started - they were my practice. (If you click on the tags for the ind. films, mostly what you will get is 100s of icons, some of them v bad early attempts, some still quite nice/fun.)

(I don't have mine uploaded any more, so Campion is the nearest I have. Heh.)

Fair enough!

(LoveFilm is sending me the final Campion DVD tomorrow - and I discovered I have a collection of Campion short stories in my possession that I'd forgotten I'd bought months ago...)

Ooo, Julia icons! I hadn't realized she did an episode of WDYTYA. (I always feel like such a bad family historian, as I've never really gotten into that show.) I might have to look for her ep.

Lots of pretty Carry On icons, too!

Aw, thanks. :-)

Well, I suppose until they made the US edition last year, the celebrity aspect of it would be kind of obscure & the family history v UK-centric! But, yes, they did Julia in S3 (the same series they did David Tennant's ep). It was an interesting one - she seems v nice and bubbly in rl, not very Lynda-like, and she was following rumours of French ancestry on her mother's side, while her father's side was one of the most unusual they've done, as he's actually Bedouin in origin - and her grandmother was an incredible woman by the sounds of it! Which was probably more than you wanted to know. I'm quite fond of them, although they do vary quite a bit. But mainly family history + celebrity nosiness + social history + archives I've visited + pretty scenery! So I'm happy.

I was able to find a copy of her episode -- she seems very lovely and, yes, not Lynda-like at all! Her background was fascinating (particularly her Bedouin grandmother)!

And those archives looked amazing!

I may have to check out a few other eps in the future. Are there any you would recommend?

Oh, good! :-) Yes, a good namesake to have, I think. (And possibly she was a bit more Lynda-like...)

I can't remember all the places they go to, but I know she starts at the Family Records Centre, which I used to go to a lot a few years ago, but it's closed now, because it was all stuff that's widely available online.

Ooh, there are quite a few. Of course, some of them may not translate well if it's because of me liking the celebrity, but: Bill Oddie, Ian Hislop, Meera Syal (S1, although all of S1 is strong); Jeremy Paxman, Stephen Fry (S2); Colin Jackson, David Tennant, David Dickinson (S3); Griff Rhys Jones (S4); Boris Johnson, David Suchet (S5); Kate Humble, Kim Cattrall, David Mitchell (S6). I've missed a lot of S7 & 8 because of being ill, but I did see J K Rowling's one, and that was great.

You have such wonderful fannish tastes.... I love these.

Mind you, I may be the only person in history who once had a Von Smallhaisen icon, and I may have to make another one some times :)

Thank you! We both do, obviously. :-)

There should be more Von Smallhausen icons in the world! Whyever not? There is an Allo Allo comm, even if it is v quiet, so you may not be alone. (cafe_rene, I think.)

These are mainly things I started but never finished the full batch of - I've been meaning to come back to Allo Allo for ages, but there's always some other distractions.
