Aug 28, 2011 09:54

Today's entry - four very close crops (plus four medium crops for comparison). They are probably even more obscure than usual, barring one.

Four close crops for naarmamo:

Thank you! Mind, it's not difficult when you've got Julia Sawalha to work with. (And, hey, I didn't realise you knew Press Gang! :-D Or possibly I had forgotten, in which case, bad me. Whoops.)

I do! Not intensely fannishly, but I loved it. And have dragged people down to the TV to watch this amazing show that they might not have bothered with because it's cunningly disguised as a kids' show.

:-)

It really is, isn't it? Now, I know that Steven Moffat has done one or two things since, but I'm not sure that Press Gang isn't still the best.

Mmm, nice icons! I like the not-quite-so-close ones, myself, but you can really see Maggie's eyes (well, eye) in her close cropped one.

I never knew she sang the Red Dwarf theme tune! Or maybe I did and have forgotten. It was fun to sing along to. :oD

Thank you! naarmamo is supposed to be 'art' (*cough*) so I like to play around with different things for it.

And, wow, you even know On The Up as well? It was my sister's favourite show as a teenager, and she watched it so much I ended up v fond of it, too. And, yes, Jenna did - I didn't know till a couple of years ago. "It's cold outside, there's no kind of atmosphere... la la la..."

I made a mistake in my comment - I was thinking Maggie was the actress's name!

However. I looked up 'On the Up' on the IMDb, and yes, I *do* know it! I didn't remember it by the title though, it was reading the blurb and realising it starred Dennis Waterman that jogged my memory. I used to watch it every time it was on. If I'm remembering the characters correctly, I wanted Tony and Maggie to get together so much.

I'm starting to think I watched *way* too much TV in those days!

 Yes, it was written by Bob Larbey, so even though it wasn't one of the outstanding ones, it was still quite funny and sweet. It had Joan Sims as Mrs Wembley, too - "Just the one, Mrs Wembley!" Oh, dear - Maggie ended up with Sam instead, didn't she? V unlikely, but also quite sweet. But then Sam Kelly was my fave thing about On The Up: "I'm always silly. It's just more noticeable in the mornings." :-)
