Belated Birthday Fic

Jun 17, 2010 20:57

I was making an effort to actually write tonight, and stumbled across my rather odd effort at birthday fic for jjpor. It's not exactly what I would call a story, and my efforts at doing Doctor-related OTPs fail as always, but it came out of one of those epic LJ conversations we've had (where we make the thread go about as thin as a needle), this one ( Read more... )

Aww, that was... Well, I don't want to gush, but I finished reading that with a great big smile on my face. I thought that was lovely, in the most sincere meaning of the word. Very much like the Doctor(s) and Romana - and Amelia! - but the bit I really, really loved was Seven and Ace in the middle there - you ought to write more about them, I think. But all of it was great, both the reflections on his relationships with individual companions (the thing that really stuck with me was Tegan's thought that for the Doctor being less than he was would be as bad as being dead - not to mention the sadness of his and Peri's parting of ways) and the whole idea of the Doctor and companions and what it says about him and about them. So yes, thank you very much for this and I really enjoyed reading it. :)

Heh, well gushing about fic I've written is always acceptable! :-)

Glad you liked it. I really wasn't sure about it at all until I looked again last night and made a few tweaks, so I'm sorry you didn't get it on your birthday, but ... I'm all over the place at the moment, and since England are being disappointing, maybe it wasn't bad timing.

Thanks. (The Tegan line came back to the thing we've discussed (too many times, oh, my Tegan-obsession!) about the way Janet and Peter make it seem as if she leaves because he decides to kill Davros.)

But, yay! :-) You liked it...

And you're demanding with the fic today! I know; I don't know why it is I almost never get Seven & Ace plot bunnies. I think it's because there's nothing about them I want to 'fix' or add to. When I do write Seven, I keep finding I have to use Mel or Benny... It's shocking, I know. Still, you keep the Seven and Ace flag flying pretty well. :-) (So: more Hartnell, more Ten and Donna, more Seven and Ace... and more Sgt Kennedy.)

It was a very good read on a slightly disgruntled sort of morning for me - so yay for that!

And I think that interpretation makes a lot of sense; I mean, she'd seen things as bad as the Dalek/Dalek Trooper-on-Dalek/Dalek Trooper massacre before, I think, but the difference was that this time the Doctor had compromised his own ethical code, and even if he ended up not actually going through with it...

Gah, now I want to read (although not necessarily write) some sort of Doctor-Tegan reunion fic where they discuss this and finish their unfinished business (Tegan meets Seven maybe as he tries to mentally and morally prepare himself for Remembrance?!). Hmm...that can go on the big shopping list of demanded fic I've so demandingly demanded from you lately! ;D

And yes, I liked it - very much!

Yes, yes, all of those! ;D I tend to sort of wallow in the awesomeness of Seven'n'Ace when I write them, maybe, but I think you're right; there's very little needs improving upon there. :)

Of course, I knew that, and purposely waited... No, I just couldn't get myself together for your actual b'day ( ... )
