My version of hobbit-ness

May 13, 2010 21:33

This is a resurrection of the crossover fic meme from last year. (In the hobbit tradition of giving gifts on one's birthday.) I'm slightly ahead of time, I realise, but I thought best to collect the prompts now & maybe there will be fic on the weekend for people. It's fic_rush time again, you know.

Give me two characters from different fandoms you know ( Read more... )

writing, crossover, meme, crossover meme

How about Kenny (Press Gang) and Vila (B7)?

Oooh, I loved this meme last time! Um um um... Tom Quinn and Harry Potter? That would be amusing. Or! Evie from The Mummy (since you offered!) and someone from The West Wing? I don't know The West Wing yet but your fic seems to be good at getting me into something new. :D

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, by the way! I am ashamed to say that I wrote you birthday fic but it is terrible and I needs some serious rewriting. So, it will be few-weeks-belated birthday fic!

I hope you have a lovely day nevertheless *throws streamers and balloons*

Tom and Harry Potter? Uhhh... I'll think about it, but I love the second idea. I've never written Evie fic & she is one of those rare screen librarians.

And thank you! And I CANNOT believe that birthday fic from you would be terrible. I shall patiently await its appearance in a year or so, then. ;-)

Your fic is here. I hope all The West Wing stuff makes sense and that, given how long it is since I've seen the Mummy, and that I've never written TWW before, that it all hangs together somehow.

Gordon Brittas/Arnold Rimmer seems almost too obvious...

It is a bit... so much so that I wrote this last year for jjpor. However, I never did do the bit with Star Bug crashing into the swimming pool, so I could give it another go.

But feel free to stake another claim if you'd rather! :-)

Ah. Memory like ... the thing you drain rice in, sorry.

I'm tempted to go for another casting gag (Sam Tyler and Nu-Master? Lynda Day and Emma from "The Curse of Fatal Death"? Jools Siviter and Bertie Wooster?? The main character from "On The Up" whose name I've forgotten and Gerry Standing???) but instead I'd like to see Dana Scully deal with the existence of Spike from Buffy/Angel.

Heh, well I use a colander, but I think you're going for sieve there. (Really, you should be saving that for your flour and icing sugar, you know.)

And that's a fun prompt, thanks - I like it! Spike, hah.

Happy Birthday! Hope you had a great day and that you'll have a wonderful year (it still counts, it's still May 14 for me).

Hmmmmmm, crossover... how about Captain Jack Harkness and D.S. Sandra Pullman from "New Tricks"?

You will find your ficlet here. I hope it isn't too silly, but I never promised I'd be sensible, you know. ;-)

Good grief, the things I'm not familiar with!

I don't know which bits of Georgette Heyer you're best at, but if Miss Marple could meet the title character (Hugo) from The Unknown Ajax, that would be awesome.

Or, under the category of "children's books", have you ever read the Swallows and Amazons series? I would love to see Liz Shaw meet anyone from those books, especially Captain Nancy (wow).

Or - this is probably quite impossible, but do you think you could do some kind of interaction between the TARDIS and the Millennium Falcon? I has major vehicle love.

(I also have, as you can see, major improbable-crossover love. If these requests are too utterly impossible for you to write, anything involving original!Star Wars and any era of Who would be lovely. Thank you very much.)

I love your prompts. And, yes, I did read Swallows & Amazons, although not till I was grown up! I'm not sure if I can remember enough, but I can definitely so at least one of those.

And I've read pretty much all Georgette Heyer's stuff I don't know how many time - so glad you like her too! What is Miss Marple doing in the past, though? (I know the meme says not to worry about these things, but I do...) I think they'd make a good pairing - no criminal would get far, that's for sure. Well, unless they were on opposite sides, as with them hiding the truth in the book. :-D

I shall write them down and see which one wins. ;-)

Um. My list has a lot of really, really obscure things on. And it's mostly British, so...

What is Miss Marple doing in the past, though?

Miss Marple doesn't have a fixed birthdate; it's always 74 years or so before the 'present day' of the story. If anything, she gets younger and more sprightly the later the book is set. So, as with UNIT, one can just murmur 'dating controversy' and then write her into any point in history.

Yes, true - or, of course, a Miss Jane Marple who happens to be almost exactly like her X-times great-great niece. What was I thinking?
