Companion to jenthegypsy's Visions, and set shortly after 3x08, Flashes Before Your Eyes. Not a true drabble because it measures in at 108 words, but considering what fandom we're in, that felt supremely right.
I love the idea that Desmond always had a touch of the sight and lived with it comfortable as a second skin; also that the more powerful, urgent visions he began to experience after the implosion of the hatch were disconcerting to him - so much so that he actually takes comfort in the glimpses he's getting of someone unknown.
Desmond knew those eyes could smolder and flame with passion or freeze into glacial indifference. Yet, in knowing the volatility behind those blue eyes and that fall of sun-streaked hair, he still trusts in his vision enough to reach out - knowing that comfort will be found there.
What? You were expecting coherence? HA! Twirls you about the room, for we finally got it done, girl! We finally got it done!
I love the idea that Des was alert enough to see all of his life... We've found the idea impossible to resist, actually. Just think back to 2x01 and Jack's flashback of the tour de stad with that in mind. ;)
Am very *bouncy* to know we've caught your interest - hope to see you around here lots!
*blushes* Thank you, sweetie, I'm so glad you liked it, and am thrilled that you're looking forward to more!
I love the use of the pictures at the end, because hello to the pretty. Yay! 'Twas jenthegypsy's idea to use the pics at the end of this pair of drabbles - inspired suggestion, don't you think? Will admit that we've caps in mind to illustrate a couple other bits and pieces of fic but hope our header and sidebar pretties will suffice when we don't do that. :)
This is a perfect companion to Jen's piece :-) I like the idea that he's seen all his life, as well, and the two last paragraphs in particular are just lovely!
And yay for the comm being up and running! It looks fantastic!
This is a perfect companion to Jen's piece Oh, thank you! Am so very glad you think so. We had originally thought to open the comm with a different pair of drabbles, but Jen said, "can you write something that goes with this?" and sent hers, and it seemed the perfect place to start. *g*
We both are, as you well know, quite excited to have the comm (finally) started. And it looks fantastic largely due to your assistance - thank you again! *hugs*
They both have a touch of the "sight," though I use "sight" loosely. Desmond actually sees, but so far canon Sawyer *hears* -- he's one of the few who hears the whispers. I can't wait to see where you're going with this!
Oh, good - we've captured your interest! *g* I'd say they both fall mostly on the "faith" side of the scale, so seeing, and hearing as well, are right and proper characteristics. Hope to see you around as we continue!
