Craig opened his mouth to reply, but suddenly Richard was in their midst, radio in hand but switched off. “Don’t bother, Craig,” he said softly, settling down in front of Tremayne. “We all knew this was coming.”

EXACTLY. I love Tremaine, I think he's pretty ruthless but above all, practical. He'd so now tailor their missions to suit their abilities once he found out :).

I can see Tremayne enjoying it a little too much and devising ridiculously hard missions and expecting them to be able to handle it, with Craig, Richard, and Sharron mentally rolling their eyes and wondering if it would have been easier if he'd just had them put under observation. :D Glad you enjoyed. :-)

Oh, this is wonderful. Of course Tremayne's not going to tell anyone, he's not an idiot. I love that Sharon held out longest, too. Doctor's straight face, yes. Hee!

Thanks for this! The idea of the "empty" feeling that lingers on in Richard and Sharron when they think Craig's done for is intriguing and very well done. Makes you wonder what will happen when one of them finally does die. Are they going to be left with a sort of "phantom limb" phenomenon for the rest of their days? And what does that mean for the last one left behind? It doesn't bear thinking about!

Nice to see another fill for this prompt, too. The world can always use more Champions fic!

There's some precedence for the emptiness - in the Australian outback episode, Richard 'dies' from his snakebite, and they feel his loss heavily then (prior to Sharron's telepathic heart massage - she's a handy woman to have around is Sharron!).

And yes, there should be more Champions fic. It's one of those shows that I'm quite sure everybody would like if they'd only watch it!

I remember the Australian outback episode, but I'm long overdue for a rewatch and have forgotten about the emptiness. I award you bonus canon credits in any case!

"The Champions" is hugely fun, and definitely deserves more love/viewers. It's unquestionably one of my favourite ITC series. I should mention that I read all those episode recaps that you did a few years back, and thought they were hilarious. I salute you for all that screencapping/captioning--I loved it but it must have taken you forever!
