Someone? Such as who? He draws in a shuddering breath. What the bloody hell’s happening here? “We’re in public,” he points out. “I’m an ex-copper. Can’t be doing stuff like that.”
James nods towards the head-high reeds and grasses that surround them. “We’re not exactly visible. And I didn’t suggest doing anything illegal.”
“Someone,” Robbie repeats, and he finds he can’t tear his gaze away from James. James, his ex-bagman. James, his best mate and soon-to-be flatmate. James, who’s looking at him as if he wants to eat him up, and Robbie’s body is telling him that it quite likes the sound of that, thank you very much.
Eh? Is that why he wasn’t interested enough in Laura

This is so wonderful! I love that Robbie wanted them to share a flat even before he figured out that they will be more than flatmates, and I'm grinning like a fool at *how* he figured it out! I do like James when he's taking control of a situation ;-)

Thank you! I'm so happy that you enjoyed this. And Robbie and James sharing a flat or house post-retirement (either AU without Laura, or James being made welcome as a frequent guest at Laura and Robbie's place) is my personal wishful-thinking head canon, so I tend to be a bit repetitive about it in my writing *g*
Yes, James can be rather masterful at times, I suspect - just as when he booked Robbie an appointment with his dentist and said he'd pick him up and take him there personally ;)
