“Are you sure?” Pooch sat forward in his seat. He gave his two teammates a worried look. “I mean this is …” his voice trailed off.

Cougar stared at him, his eyes dark and intense. “Si. The puta is loco, Pooch.”

Jensen nodded. “She is gonna get all of us killed and Cougs and I are sick of it. We talked it over and we want out, but you know as well as we do, Clay will never just let us leave for good. It’ll always be just one more mission. And…” he paused and took his glasses off, pinching the bridge of his nose. He closed his eyes for a moment before he looked up. “Pooch, the man we followed died with Roque. This man, this Clay… he isn’t the same. He doesn’t care about the team like he used to. He’s … consumed with revenge. In a way Roque was right, I don’t want revenge. I want my fucking life back and like Clay said, Cougs and I are gonna steal it back. If you decide to stay that’s your call but as for us. We’re out.” His eyes held the same intensity as Cougar’s and Pooch glanced down to their entwined hands. Whatever happened Cougar and Jensen would be together.

Pooch shuddered as he glanced over at the cadaver lying on the kitchen floor. Then he thought about Jolene waiting patiently for him, raising their son alone and the rising nausea gave him his answer. “I’m in. But where did you get the bodies?”

Jensen shrugged. “Stole ‘em from the local med school. I don’t know if Aisha really did count teeth in that damned chopper but Clay isn’t stupid and if they don’t haul bodies outta here he is gonna know something is up.”

Pooch bowed his head for a moment before he shrugged. Jensen had a point. “Ok, let’s do this.”

Jensen nodded and climbed to his feet. He grabbed the Molotov cocktail he had made and the lighter while Cougar turned on the gas stove and nodded to his lover as he walked out the front door with Pooch. Jensen took one last look around the safe house and followed them. He lit the wick and tossed it into the kitchen. The three made it to the end of the block before the house blew. They stood in the shadows for a minute watching the debris rain down.

Jensen pulled Pooch into a rough hug. “Give Jolene a kiss for us and have a good life man.”

Cougar smiled and tipped his hat. He took Jensen’s hand and together they melted into the night.

Pooch looked back at the burning safe house and pulled his cell phone out of his pocket. He dialed the number. “Babe? I’m coming home. Start packing.”
