This year's FrightFest line-up was just announced and I'm delighted to see that Mike Dougherty's Trick 'r Treat is showing on Saturday, 29 August at 21:00. It features four interwoven Halloween stories and I've been waiting for what feels like eternity to see it ( Read more... )

Don't think I've missed a year (well, maybe one ;) since it started and always like to see at least one film. Can't believe how much it's grown since it's early beginnings at Prince Charles Cinema!

Thanks for the reminder! As Infest is not on, I'll actually be in London for a change over the Bank Holiday - will have to work my way through the film list.

Just realised that I'm scheduled to cover the out of hours emergency mobile the August bank holiday weekend so there is a trick for me after all. Boooo!!!

Nevermind, Cinderella will go to the ball...and hopefully won't get any calls!

I have to start watching trailers too. Let me know if you come across any films that look particularly good just in case I miss them!

I think "I sell the dead" could be very good .
It has already been shown at a previous event (Glasgow possibly)
Apparently this is more in the tradition of an old Hammer / Amicus type movie.

Haven't even started trawling through the trailers yet, but thanks for the heads up on 'I Sell the Dead'. Ron Perlman is nearly enough to sell it to me, but the storyline sounds amusing too.

Wow, that film looks great! I'm embarrassed to say I'd not heard of it before :/

Horror films these days seem to often be about torture and extreme violence so this one makes a refreshing change. *^_^*

Never much been into the torture-porn myself. After LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT (the original) there was nothing more to be said on the subject, as far as I was concerned.

I like the spooky, frightening, terrifying, even the grotesque, but I'm not into watching some girl scream and roll her eyes back while being defiled-- well, not in the torture scenario anyway. There's just so many great stories out there that have yet to be seen and especially read.

I'd seen the art book in Forbidden Planet a while back and thought it looked like an interesting film.

Seeing the trailer I'm conflicted - looks like a great film visually and I like many of the actors, but on the other hand it probably exceeds my scary threshold! I'll just have to watch it drunk :D

Ha ha, how about just stuffing yourself with candy so that the sugar high gets you through the armrest gripping parts?! ;-p~

Funny how the merchandising has been out for awhile - not only did they have the lovely book, but also the Sam doll at Forbidden Planet - and yet the film struggled to get released.

Do think this one is unmissable!

How many films you planning on seeing this year ?

Good question! Unfortunately probably not very many because I don't want to take any time off work, and will also be covering the emergency phone. Bound to get some calls as so many people travel over the bank holiday weekend, but hopefully it won't spoil my weekend too much. I've had it the past week and so far only 2 calls ~ will still be glad to get rid of it tomorrow morning!

Are you getting a pass this year?

Hopefully see you there at a couple of screenings.
Trick r treat at least.

Ooh, that's great, especially as there are so many films to choose from with the 2 screens.

I'm sure our paths will cross at least a few times. *^_^*
