Foggy Wednesday

I've been wanting to post, but everyday seems to slip away before I get a chance to put down some words.  And yes, I have to admit, it's been a little hard to come here after sliding to an awkward place where the words just stopped coming for The Quince Tree.  I'm not sure why, other than after being so immersed in a story, it takes time to be okay ( Read more... )

Sometimes letting go of something, no matter how precious, is the only thing to do.

So true -- so wise. And while it's there, in our open palm, we can still appreciate the beauty and joy of it.

I love that your creativity is stirring :)

Four short stories! Impressive. Good to know your creativity is still there. It will let you know when to get back to the long work. Take your time. It'll come when it's ready.

It seems to be a recurring life lesson lately--hold on to nothing, unknow everything. I'm finding more and more that what remains is the source of all creativity and action

Beautiful and wise, Lorraine. I often fight that "unknowing," but you're right, it's an important part of the process of both living and writing.

So happy to know that you're finding your muse, even if she isn't where you thought you'd left her. xo

Amy, I'm happy to be finding my muse too! Especially because I had all these pesky thoughts about whether I was a writer or not buzzing around, drowning out any bit of creativity. Sometimes we make things awfully hard for ourselves. :)

I wish I could sit beside you and watch those birds hop from porch to feeder.

It's wonderful you've written four short stories, and you could do that precisely because you could let go. Such a wise one, you are.

Tracy, I just want you to know how often I think of you when those bright birds gather around the feeder. And then I wish you were here to tell me what kind they are!

I'd probably tell you they were LBJs. :)

(It warms my heart knowing you think of me when you watch your birds).

It's always hard to put the letting go to words, so I'm not surprised you had to sit with it for a while before posting here. There's sadness, even when you know it's right or in the course of things or just have your signature grace. It does seem that putting Quince aside then finding these new stories is a good sign. Clearly you're ready to move on, even if what you're leaving now isn't entirely over.

We wait patiently for the stories of your heart in whatever form they take.

It was hard for me to let go of that particular story, especially when my daughter was saying that she wanted to know what happened next for the two sisters. But you're right, it was time to move on. Someday I may go back. Thanks, Jeannine--your steady and caring support means so much to me.
