Made it to another year, kids! Not that another year makes any difference in my level of maturity. Thanks for your beautiful card, elanorgardner! That's a fantastic photograph, thank you so much for sharing it with us.

I'm very glad it was "only a cold". Poor Wendy, my heart just breaks for her.

I have this superstition that whatever you do on NY's eve, you'll do all year long.

Oh goodie, because I spent the evening watching TV and having a good night's sleep. I can totally envision doing that all year long. :)

*hugs 'n snuggles*

It sounds like a good plan to me! Only one thing would make it better - having a pet to snuggle with you. :)

I like your New Years Eve superstition and wish I had some sparkling pear juice right now!

*wishes*

Nope! Still diet pepsi...

I am so glad it was just a cold. And I am so sorry about the kitten, losing a little one like that is so painful. We are still mourning Percy Pinson, poor little fella.

I have 89 days till I retire and I plan on being in lj more, too this year. Maybe even posting!!!

((huggles))

Happy New Year, Miss Lorie!!!

89 days! Congratulations. You may not post much, but you're a commenting MACHINE, woman. I'm trying to be more like you, actually. Happy retirement year to you.

NY's eve here on LJ seems lovely even now, as I read the old posts. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Wishing you all the best, Julia. *hugs*

I'm sorry that there seems to have been a sort of conspiracy against Christmas for you this year-post-Christmas, anyway. I hope you managed to get dinner at some point. I'm rather partial to turkey, myself. I'd hate to think you got done out of your fair share of goodies.

Colds seem to be all the rage this season. My sister came for Christmas and spent the whole time wandering around with her own private, personal box of Kleenex. And I only just, by the skin of my teeth, missed a bad bout of flu a week before Christmas, which set me way behind in everything.

As for your superstition, I spent the evening of New Year's Eve baking a bûche de Noël from my mother's old recipe, as I do every year. And there is no way I spend the rest of the year baking, though I always do a lot over the Christmas season. However, I definitely envy you the tidy house. My mother's place-which was where we celebrated-is looking lovely with garlands and tree; but my own place is a sad and sorry sight. And you with a cold, too ( ... )

The REAL conspiracy is that my family makes ham, not turkey. *shudders and looks for sale turkeys* The house is as clean as it gets these days -- that's not saying a lot, you know. ChemoGirl has a lot of built-in excuses for skipping over stuff that would horrify my mother.

Is ham a family tradition for you? I know my mother has said that her family often had ham as well as chicken at Christmas, though not at the same meal, of course! However, ham-being a preserved meat-is certainly traditional winter fare.

I think ham was more for Easter in my family, but this is the husband's family we're talking about. Turkey was both Thanksgiving and Christmas fare in my family, and ham equalled a canned thing, of which I am not fond. So at least when I make it myself, I can buy a nice bone-in specimen, not one of the spiral spiced thingees with glaze blowtorched on top.

And it is my own fault it was so hammy at Christmas. Both turkey & ham were on sale, and I caved to Rich's taste and bought ham. Only later did we hear his brother was serving it Christmas Eve. So life was kind of salty for a while. *takes a big drink of water*

Oh, no. Give Wendy a big hug from me. I've been in that place before.

Hope you're feeling better, sweetie! You're a good friend.

And I know what you mean about leaving comments for Yuletide fics before the author reveal. Enjoy once you get a chance to look through the archive. There are some amazing fics and I was unbelievably lucky to receive three beautiful stories, all fairy tales and each one different.

I knew everyone here would understand about Wendy's cat! You know, in real life people just act like "what? A cat?" But it was horrible, and he was so little.

That's why Tonks is the great success story of the year, and I'm so thrilled whenever her healthy grown-up looking photo pops up on my screen saver.

I'm bookmarking Yuletide and resolving to read a few stories at lunch every day! I can't wait for the fairy tales, actually. I adored those last year.

I know what you mean. Every time I look at Tonks, I'm still amazed that she's not only alive but thriving and eccentric :-)
