You need to watch Star Trek: Deep Space Nine then. The Next Generation is my favorite, but DS9 ranks right up there and is the show with the most character growth and development.

Hmmm I don't know. I really don't like sci fi... I'm not big on the whole space thing. DW works for me because so much of it is actually set on Earth or human past/future. The eps I like the least tend to be the ones set further in space like on space stations and stuff...

It maybe set in space and on a space station, but ... You know how a lot of us say that some of RTD's best work comes from writing characters and character moments? That's kind how a lot of episodes of DS9 are. It tends to to focus more on the characters themselves rather than alien of the week (well there is the War arc, but that starts during Season 3 when the characters are more established and a lot of that too, is character driven.).
