As happy as I am that this election had a decisive ending [I'm even happy with the results], as happy as I am that it was decided before Florida was called, insuring that we could not be held to blame if any BS cropped up, I still find myself depressed that Amendment 2 passed ( Read more... )

I was stunned too, so I checked - Broward hasn't completely reported in yet, according to the Florida website. I'll recheck tomorrow.

This is the main thing keeping me from being happy with tonight's results.

The thing that really gets me about all of this is the fact you would think the minorities and women voters would vote no to this in droves. I mean it was not THAT long ago when their groups were treated as second class citizens. I guess it doesn't matter as long as it doesn't happen to them.

Admenment 2 actually has some form of effect on me. I am not married (and I will NEVER punish myself like that again) but I guess I have to admit I am in some form of relationship considering I am going to end up being a father in a few months. If something happened to "baby momma" or to myself this could stop us from anything like a formalized domestic partnership. I.e. Get married or get lost.

Everyone is happy if they have someone else to consider worthless to them I guess.
