Well...I'm glad I sure as hell didn't have to pay to get in to Ozzfest ( Read more... )

The reason I've never gone to Ozzfest, Too much money, and I heard from a friend who went to an Ozzy concert like 6 or 7 years ago that he was losing it. Then from the reality show I could tell Ozzy just isn't the same. I'd much rather listen to the old albums.

However, I'm amazed that Judas Priest was so good. I would have thought that they would lose it after so much time. I guess I would have liked to have seen that show.

But I'm used the 80's not-so-serious pseudo-metal bands being dissappointing now. Like I went to Rocktoberfest at that airplane place in Auburndale, I guess that must have been 2002. Most of the bands were nowhere near as good anymore, with the exception of Joan Jett who kicked serious ass, but she does punk now. But Dokken and Quiet Riot were sad.

But my biggest regret is not seeing Iron Maiden in concert back in 1992/1993 when they played an hour and half away from my college, up in N.Y. Now they are back and sound incredible but now they only seem to do a half dozen shows in the U.S., no where near Florida.

Damn, if Maiden had been on the bill last night with Priest it would have made my year. As it stands, seeing three Gods of Metal(Slayer, Priest, Sabbath) play in succession was not a bad way to spend a night...

And I'd hardly qualify Priest as an "80's not-so-serious pseudo-metal band." They were a cornerstone of the British invasion.

Dokken and Quiet Riot are very sad though.... but I always thought they were sad LOL!

Oh, and Joan Jett is hot :P

You are right, Judas Priest was not pseudo. (Not like the 80's hair bands that played at that Rocktoberfest concert I went to). And if Priest are still as good as they used to be then that rocks. And Black Sabbath and Ozzy were great. Hey everyone gets old sometime but the songs still kick ass. I haven't listened to much Slayer but I have a few songs from long ago(late 80's). And they were epitome of the darkest death metal I'd ever heard at the time so I assume that is still the case ( ... )

Awesome. What did you think of the last Maiden album? You listen to any King Diamond or Mercyful Fate?

Funny thing about Sabbath, Bill Ward is the only one that looks old, the rest of em have hardly aged... Must be all the drugs.

The guys in Priest though, they were really showing their age in their apearance if not in their overall stage presence and energy level.

I totally love the new Maiden album. Really back to their old selves.

I have 4 90 minute tapes I made back in 1990 of all sorts of miscellaneous metal, with maybe 2 King Diamond songs (and plenty of Priest). I don't think I've heard Mercyful Fate. Back in highschool I copied some stuff from my DM, Manowar, Armored Saint, Helloween (I have since downloaded some MP3s of that stuff plus a variety of other metal)
Stuff I've personally bought, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Danzig (and Misfits), Ozzy Osbourne. And Tool which I'm not sure how you categorize. And I also like Industrial - Ministry. My other favorite band would be Rob Zombie which I think is a mix of industrial and metal and stripper dance music.
Besides that I like Punk and 80's hard rock

Anyhow, It's cool that age isn't affecting the music performance

With King Diamond you really have to get the whole album, since each one is a story he's telling. Mercyful Fate is King Diamond's other band, it's more traditional.

I haven't cared for Danzig since "How the Gods Kill." After that he just kinda pussed out. Did you see the video of him getting smacked down by that hardcore singer up in New York or wherever? Funny as hell.

This Saturday(9/11) there's a show at Boomerz Boiler Room over in Seminole. ome of the best local metal bands around are playing. Yeti, The Absence, 5 Billion dead, and Royal Anguish. It's a cheap show, you should check it out. I can guarantee the bands won't disappoint.

This Saturday huh, sounds like it might be cool. It's been awhile since I went to a small concert, those are the best. And cheap is good too.
Are you planning on going to this show? It would be much cooler to go to a concert with someone else (even a friend of a friend I haven't exactly met in person) than to go by myself.s
How does one get tickets?

Yeah, I'm going. You don't need tickets, ya just pay at the door. I think it's only 5 bucks.

I enjoyed the show. Thanks for telling me about it and thanks for meeting me there. It was great to meet you and it was nice to have someone to chat with about metal and not feel like a dork being there alone ( ... )

Venom? Awesome. GWAR has a new album coming out in a month or so called "War Party." You can go through my CD cases and copy anything you want. If there is anything that I don't have personally I can pull it from one of the other cases we use for our show. We have 6 cases of CDs we usually carry with us plus probbaly another case worth of loose material.
