I've had virtually no brass training whatsoever, but have lived with a mad brass player for 20 years, so I've picked up a little. Work on getting one note, just one note. Once you've got that fairly reliably (big wet, loose raspberry without the tongue is the key) just *think* about getting a different note. It's all in the tension in your lips and the amount of air you shift, but just *thinking* about it is usually enough to work :-)
They're a lot of fun for fanfares at re-enactments!
