Okay, so: I ABSOLUTELY ADORED THIS. Your gift for description is fantastic--I just love your STYLE so much--and the story itself was. OMG. At first I was just kind of thrilled by the creepiness of it--I literally got goosebumps when Cook heard his own voice coming out of the radio, and that particular song, too, with your vivid description, GAH--I spent a while in Supernatural fandom and this felt like some of the best of those stories, the creepy road stories, and I loved that all on its own. But then you had these vivid, fascinating characterizations to go with it, this gorgeous look at the band dynamic and their history and the things they've given up and gained, that felt so sharp and sweet and true, and the way you worked the metaphor of it was just WONDERFUL. And of course the Adam and Archie bits were fabulous, too--I literally laughed out loud at Adam scrambles backward thinking you always have to be the fucking confrontational one shit shit shit. You were like the ONE PERSON I was pretty certain would like it :-)

I wasn't sure if the rest of the universe understood the both the wonderfulness and the scariness inherent in the Anthemic story . . . which is how a classic fic germ like "our heroes get lost and in danger together" turned into a "deal with the devil" line of imagining.

NEAL KICKED THE DEVIL'S ASS. THAT'S KIND OF AMAZING. AND THEN HE MADE OUT WITH DAVE. I APPROVE OF THESE THINGS.

I looooooooooooove a good romance and I will read them all day long, but it's lovely to have such a complete story, one that's about a slightly different view of the picture than we often get in fandom. But still with Cookmann
