Tim is sad that we don't get FSC in our current TV package. It turns out that the british pub broadcasts some games, so we may end up there for important matches. they have my favorite cider on tap, which is a bonus.
TFC has been a huge success. Fair to say their attendance would be higher if the stadium held more people :) But 20K is probably about the right number for MLS clubs to shoot for. The bar has clearly been raised... and hopefully the longer established clubs are up to the challenge to match that level of support.
i am a huge fan as well. they've done everything the right way with that franchise, and the timing was perfect - after the Sonics became the Oklahoma City Blunder, people there were ready for something fresh and different and responsive to fans.
it wouldn't surprise me if, one day, they have the entire stadium open for ALL games, and not just the lower bowl. they are setting the standard for MLS and American soccer - even the big European clubs they faced this summer took notice of that.
should be a good game tonight against the other great franchise which has set the standards in the league. go Green!
Full blown Qwest every game would be amazing. I'd expect the front office to kept next year's capacity status quo, at least to see how demand holds up. I read there's already a season ticket waiting list of a couple thousand.
One thing that makes it work so well is the urban stadium location. Other MLS clubs should really pay attention to that. Soccer-specific venues are great, but too many of them are ending up in the suburbs. FC Dallas is having serious attendance issues largely due to this.
There was some buzz about Bob Kraft trying to get a stadium built in Somerville for the Revolution, but haven't heard anything new on that recently. That would be fantastic if it happens, but I'm not holding my breath.

Yeah, it sucks that cheezchick can't go, but I'd feel kinda silly not playing a tournament so close by.
