Wow. That was bastardly of them. WTF? Why not hit up the temp agency? Workforce, or whatever they have down there. Don't give up. What's a few months in Alaska to get your feet under you? It is quiet up there. Since you haven't written anything down there, maybe the retreat will be good. And why not work on a few movies until then? We never know what the Gods intend for us. This apparent step back may be exactly what you need.

The temp agencies I've talked to haven't found anything for me (though that might have been different if I'd thought to check them out when I first came down here, but nooo, I wanted a real job).

I'm operating on the hope/assumption that the gods do have something nice planned in this apparent step backwards. As always, I just wish I had some idea what it was...
