I was gonna say something about the ecomony making everyone depressed so they just want to watch stupid crap that they don't have to think about but naw.

People are just stupid.

I want to see Australia but I'm broke (and I can't stand Nicole Kidman's robot face). I'll check it out when it comes out on DVD.

I can't stand her either believe me, and they go on about her so much down here so it's amplified. But if you can find a cheap cinema you should definitely see it on the big screen 'cause it's basically made for the cinema, all the sweeping cinematography etc.

I saw Australia a few days ago, and even though it just came out this past weekend, I was surprised to see that there weren't many people in the theater at all. I was however, quite befuddled when the day before the queue outside a theater near my friend's house was out the door for that retarded Christmas movie shown in your banner.
Especially with ticket prices being what they are, I can't imagine paying 10 dollars to see something that I knew would be completely inconsequential.

Oh cool, you saw it! It mightn't be everyone's cup of tea but that's for them to decide for themselves but you've got to admit that Baz Luhrmann is definitely a visionary. People like him are why film schools and films themselves exist: so that somewhere in the rubble a unique method of story telling might prevail. Doesn't mean you'll love him in particular, some of the greats don't appeal to me but I can certainly appreciate their unique vision.

Me too! I've forgotten the name. Those films are all one big film in my head, it wouldn't matter who directed them it's just "set up camera and shoot", the scripts are written by a team intent on making money and are a combination of a few other films but with different character names. On the other hand, 'Australia' is 100% passion for exposing a few stories of our history and doing them in a lavish, awe-inspiring way.

It just pisses me off that people don't want to have to put their brain through something new, something where they might have to take in new information, be in actual information about history or information in a cinematic way, but rather see the same old shit. ugh.

I hope you like the film. After all of this it mightn't be your cup of tea, but that's ok. It won't be everyone's. You'll still surely appreciate the vision behind it and the principle I''m crapping on about here.

Ugh I read those box office receipts & groaned on the inside. Australia might not be the next Intolerance but Baz brings the goods with his cinematographers, costuming and imagination if nothing else. 4 Christmases looks like a deriviative yawnfest. Didn't they make it before as Sweet Home Alabama and The Break-Up respectively? Hm my mistake.

Role Models was a dumb comedy but I did enjoy that one. Haha.

Sweet Home Alabama and The Break-Up are different films? Ah ok, I didn't see them so they just seem like one giant film mixed up with a bunch of others in my head.

As I was just saying above, Baz's vision might not appeal to you, it mightn't be everyone's personal taste. But regardless, the mere fact that he has such a unique vision and a bursting passion for expressing this vision is something you might want to check out rather than seeing a film which could have been directed by anybody. I could have done it......"set camera on tripod here, lights there, and action".

lol yes the big difference is The Break-Up doesn't have the girl getting a proposal in Tiffany's where the store closes & lights up so she can chose a diamond engagement ring. barf ( ... )
