My roommate Red (well, former roommate, now that I'm living back at home) has this adventurous dad who does cool adventure-y things (gosh, aren't you in awe of my mad writing skillz?  I know I am).  And before I left lovely southern Oregon, he was determined to make me adventurous.  So they decided to take me down the Umpqua River in a Tahiti Kayak ( Read more... )

This is an awesome story! Also, it's oddly akin to what happened to my brother whilst he was rafting (or perhaps canoeing, I know not) as a scout. I'm so glad everything turned out okay. My brother, who swims about as well as I do (read:not very well), was pinned under the water against the tree. I'm lucky to still have him.

Now I must snark. "The River and it's accomplice the Tree"?! Glory be! It's a misplaced apostrophe!
