Here at the wonderful University I will call Odd and Strange University, they have food drives periodically, and my church group is helping participate in one. Last week, we went to a few neighborhoods in the area and left notes and plastic sacks explaining we would be back on Monday to collect sacks with canned goods in them. So yeah, the guy is a jerk. How hard would it have been to just give you a few cans of food? However, as noble as your intentions were, yes, you were soliciting. Most people who put up a sign have the vacuum salesman in mind, but a few grumps don't want to be contacted period.

I understand his being upset. Yes, I was soliciting for canned food. I'm fine with that as a description of my activities. But there's no reason to react that way. Other people didn't answer the door; others said politely that they didn't have any canned food to give. We apologized, and it wasn't until after our apology that he yelled at us.

Sorry. Here I go again, getting all worked up, and it isn't really a big deal, and you aren't attacking me. Sorry. I'm still working on being zen. Deep breaths, Loradona, deep breaths....
