Take flight

Saturday was International Learn to Fly Day, and I got to cover an event at the local airport. A flight instructor, who has been flying for 50 years, took me up in his Cesna 172. It's the first time I've ever been in a plane that size, where I had more than a porthole view of the ground.

Ahh the Mineshaft. I agree the food was good but the crowd used to get rough after about 10 pm or so. Only place I even got into a bar fight after I graduated college. I ended up knowing the cops and at least they believed me when I said I was trying to get away and the guy kept on coming.

I've never been there past 7 p.m. If I had a driver, I would have tried their margarita shaker deal. Some of their drinks sounded pretty tasty.
