So, today is the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. We've got a piece of it in our sitting room, and somewhere there's a photo of Mum, Dad and me in a buggy next to the rubble. I'm glad I was alive for it, even if I was only a few weeks old and don't remember

I find it really hard to imagine it being so recent. It sounds like something that should have happened a long time ago, not after I was born. I find that a lot of things I think of as "ancient history" are actually a lot closer to now than I thought. It does at least show that stuff can advance quickly.

On the other hand, Yes Minister could feasibly be a new show this year, and still have pretty much exactly the same plots. Maybe we've not come as far as we thought.
