I had that happen to me the other day on the plane! I took my ear phones out and kinda stretched... and as I did, took a fast glance around me. And the guy across the aisle wasn't even being cautious about it. Staring. Straight. At. Me. So I did the hair flip with left had to show wedding ring thing as I went back to my book. It was kinda creepy in, like you said, a flattering way.

Chris and I went to Red Robin's one time and the waiter kept putting his hand on my shoulder when he'd ask me a question. I didn't even realize it was an issue until Chris started to tense up, I think he would've knocked the shit out of the guy had he put his hands on me one more time lol.
