The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

Sweeney Todd was FANTASTIC.

The intro was sooooo Charlie and the Chocolate Factory reminiscent.

I couldn't believe how good they made that movie. I never actually saw the play before, so i had no idea how the story was going to play out. I want to go see it again; right now.

Basic plot: Johnny Depp kills off cast of Harry Potter. No joke

sweeney todd, johnny depp

HAHAHAHAHA, I love your plot summary! I never thought of it that way!
I'm seeing it later today. Can't wait for the Wonka/Snape snuff movie.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but the play is fucking INTENSE! By the end of it I practically peed myself. However, the play is almost like an opera, too, and I'm guessing they cut a lot of the music...?

Haven't you seen the trailers? Johnny Depp sings. Gah. *braindead*

yes, I've seen the trailers, but I'm kind of a theater nazi (I've been doing it since I was 5), and Sondheim music is VERY complex...so that's what worried me, particularly since he had never sang before.

There's something about Broadway singing that kinda leaves me with less than this did. I mean, i was a wee bit worried when Johnny and Helena both were like "okay, i've never sang in my life before this". I don't know if it was because they just weren't used to singing or that they were good enough actors to pull off singing with feeling anyway, but they both seemed to have more "character" with it than most musicals i've seen in theater. It's just that....there's sometimes this certain kind of theater singing actors do that doesn't seem very unique. Good maybe, just not as unique. Though of course they have the added bonus of recording everything to perfection both visually and sound-wise.
