FANFIC REVIEWS

Question. Why is it that Harry Potter fanfics, have so few reviews and the Twilight stories have thousands of reviews. I'm not joking, there are stories, like Sage's The Fallout that has a meager amount of reviews and it is an outstanding story told in an extremely original format.  Wide Awake by Angstgodess, an equally great story in the Twilight ( Read more... )

I agree. We do take you for granted and I wish there was a way to get the word out to the fans that HP stories need more love.

Maybe Twilighters crosspost less? I mean, I have to sum up a handful of sites whenever I'm in the mood for review counting.

Or maybe they just have a different fandom mentality. I don't know. :)

It's funny because it was when I saw the reviews for The Bracelet on GE that made me post this. I love your story, you are always so great at responding to our reviews and it pisses me off that you don't have more reviews.

I read equal amounts in both fandoms, and like you, they post on different sites as well, and I fill inconsequential leaving reviews for stories that get 1000 reviews per chapter.

Oh, I've slacked a lot on the review responses lately. And GE isn't really my main site for reviews, no. But I do all right -- although certainly not 1k reviews per chapter. XD

Could just be that they're bigger than we are these days. I suppose the biggest hype for HP is over (although it may arise again with the DH movie(s)) and Twilight may just be... shinier. IDK. XD

I'm not really familiar with the HP fandom, but in Twilight authors and reviewers hangout together on forums and blogs, and so a lot of the time there are friendships built between writers and readers, so the readers leave reviews as much as an act of friendship as an act of praise.

Maybe that could be a reason?

Maybe it has to do with the fact that dramione is only one branch among many, many ships in the fandom. There are so many fics and fic types that it's impossible for all of the fandom members to be aware of all of the major fics.

Whereas, with Twilight, Edward/Bella is the most common ship and receives a lot of attention, way more than the fanon HP ships would.
