Well, I, being of a vast minority believe that all war is wrong therefore all that is done to attempt to justify it is also wrong. I think this country has rarely been wronger than it was during the C.W.

And yeah your comment about the lesser of evils strikes me as correct and whenever that kind of choice is made things get plenty murky and flea-ridden.

I just wish there was more discussion about how wrong it all was and less about justification.

mooey, who else?

i'm on the boat with you regarding the general wrongness of war and especially the wrongness of this particular war ~ seems, however, it is the inevitable state of man to kill each other rather than work things out peacably ~ which, i guess, makes it all the more confounding to escalate things to levels of barbarity above and beyond the engagements of so-called "civilzed" warfare.

i have yet to find a balanced book on the wrongness of the war ~ too much Southern apologetics and/or radical pacifism that denies the human characteristics of competition and combat (and by combat, i don't mean killing per se, but the more animal state of battling with physical strength as opposed to weaponry).

if all global strife could be somehow be solved with football matches, for example, maybe the world could satisfy its lust for violence without actually killing too many people.

it's just wishful thinking, i know.
