That couple looks so comfortable together. What difference do a few leaves -- or being dead, for that matter -- make?

Even though I keep falling behind in reading your posts and I haven't been commenting much, I'm enjoying your trip tremendously.

Yes, the whole monument was made to look like a big bed. I liked it very much and wondered if it was meant to be gently humorous, as it was.

it's a big issue in the Jewish community, how to bury interfaith couples. How interesting! You mean, there's resistance to putting the non-Jewish member in a Jewish cemetery, or there's a fear that Jewish persons end up in a Christian cemetery or both?

Being cremationally inclined, I hadn't given this much thought. I guess I assumed that anyone could go anywhere, if they had the ticket money. Sad. My own intermarried in-laws' ashes are in the local non-denom joint, behind a little door.

Lovely pics. Where was the second one from?

The cemetery sounds restful, in both senses. I'm sorry you weren't able to see the catacombs. But as always thanks for sharing!

Also the Cimitere de Montparnasse. I couldn't get it in the picture, but beneath the angel is a crumpled robe, a nice reference to the casting off of the earthly form.
