Very nice poem. I was just typing part of a John Donne love poem as part of a fanfic(!) Is it based on something that's happening to you, though? Because it sucks when your pets are ill, especially if you can't do anything about it. We lost two cats to cancer; one definitively, the other probably (she expired during the biopsy; she never regained consciousness).
Yes, our darling top cat has a slow-growing tumor in his jaw. He was supposed to die a year ago and that particular tumor resolved (was probably an abcess, not a tumor), but this one is real.
I'm sorry to hear it. I gather he's mostly black with a few stray white furs? We have a black and white tusedo cat (refer to icon) and used to have another one (who looked a lot different from this one). Our former tuxedo cat had stomach cancer that was too advanced to respond to radiation treatment; he had to be put to sleep about a month after he was diagnosed - unfortunately, the day after Christmas. We spent Christmas knowing he was going to the vet's the following day, so it was a rather sad Christmas for us. Though at least he got a lot of attention and lap time!
I think he may be in a little pain. I'm not sure but he doesn't like his face touched. I might take him to the vet, but the vet doesn't know any better than we do, what he feels.
