I have to say I really like this book. It has pretty girls in distressed, handsome soldiers and vicious officers. Above all, it has tons of action in exotic places, it has Wellesley and ¡Colonel Gudin! Sorry, but I'm very fan of poor Colonel Gudin. It has the Lawford I expected to find when I read the other books before and I tried to imagine how he would be in India. But it has to Obadiah Hakeswill, who always makes me shiver, he is a nasty man and his madness makes him even nastier. Dunno, I've always thought the Indian books have a quieter path than the Napoleonics. Maybe is the heavy heat, they had to go slower. We can go with Sharpe through his relationship with mild Lieutenant Lawford, with Colonel McCandless, with Colonel Gudin, even with Hakeswill. Maybe it's because Sharpe is alone, without his faithful (but yet to come) Riflemen.
I'm going to try to re-read the book to write a more accurate lines, but that's a quick opinion.
(I apologize for the mistakes)

In contrast to that, Sharpe's Peril... *shudders* Did they have to cram every cliche ever and any leftover plotline from the books into that one movie?

I've never seen Sharpe's Peril, I even don't know how many films they've made after Waterloo -the last one I saw. I stopped with the tv series because I didn't like the idea of a complete dissociation with the bookverse. I resent the no-Sean-Bean side effect, but I really couldn't make my mind up.
