So, I was thinking yesterday about how there is very little f/f kidfic, and, really, f/f schmoop AU fic in general, so I wrote this.

Coming Right Up, Danneel/Sophia (with a side of Jared/Jensen), 2200 words, PG. In which Sophia is a frazzled waitress, and Danneel is a hot nanny.

It's only 10:30, and Sophia can already feel a headache forming at the base of her skull. She never works the breakfast shift, but Aldis begged and begged her to switch, and she's regretting it. Everyone is grumpy and bitchy before their coffee, and Sophia herself isn't in the best of moods.

She's wondering if she can take an early fifteen and grab some Advil and just relax when she hears a voice next to her.

"I want crayons."

Sophia looks away from where she was staring out the window--she didn't hear the chime and prays that no one noticed her slacking--and sees a little boy looking up at her expectantly.

"Jack," says a woman's voice from somewhere behind Sophia. "That's not what we say."

The kid rolls his eyes. "May I please have some crayons?"

"That's better," says his mom.

Sophia smiles a little--she's not really a kid person, but she always enjoys etiquette lessons, and she sees a lot of them--and gives him a cup of crayons. "Here you go." She turns around and stares. The kid's mom is hot--total MILF material, as Aldis and Nick would say--long, soft-looking brown hair, quirked up smile, tank top that displays her really nice cleavage. She's got another kid in her arms, and Sophia prays she looks that good after two kids. Then, she remembers she's supposed to be actually talking to this woman and not thinking about how amazing she looks, and gives her strongest, friendliest smile. "Hi, welcome to Grapevine. Can I get you a table to go with those crayons?"

"That'd be great," says the MILF, smiling back. "Three, please? And one of us needs a booster seat."

"Of course, right this way." She grabs a few menus and shows them to a booth. "And I'll be right back with the booster seat.

When she gets back, the boy's already drawing on his placemat, and the MILF has positioned her arms in such a way that the top of her breasts looks even hotter. Sophia is having a seriously hard time concentrating.

"Here's your booster seat," she says. "Anyway, I'm Sophia, and I'll be your server today."

"Oh," says the MILF, "you hear that, Sophia? She's got your name."

"Your name's Sophia too?" says the little girl, wide-eyed.

"Uh huh."

"And no one calls you Sophie?"

"Nope."

"Everyone else gets called Sophie, and I don't like it," little Sophia declares.

Sophia smiles. "Me neither. Anyway, I can take your drink orders now, if you'd like, and get them into the kitchen."

"Milk for the kids," says the MILF, "and just a water for me, please."

"Absolutely, coming right up."

The MILF pays with a card, and Sophia knows it's stupid, but she can't help glancing at the name and committing it to memory--Danneel Harris.

It's definitely a lot better than MILF.

Danneel has, after six months of nannying for the Chandlers, gotten pretty awesome at manipulating Jack and Sophia. Sophia, it's still pretty easy--she's only three and she looks at Danneel as a role model. Jack is five and thinks he has Danneel wrapped around his little finger, just like she wants him to. She's a pretty awesome nanny, all things considered.

So she knows she won't have any trouble convincing them to go back to the restaurant with the absolutely smoking hot waitress. The kids liked the food, and Sophia thought it was really cool that the waitress had her name, and it's right by their second favorite park.

In fact, as soon as she suggests that they grab lunch while they're out, Jack says he wants to go back to the place they went last week, because their cup of crayons had obscure colors, and wasn't just a ton of the eight basics.

"You don't want to try somewhere new? Maybe something Indian?" Danneel asks innocently. Jack is in a stage where he's deeply wary of anything that hints at being spicy.

"No," says Jack decisively. "We're going back to the good crayon place."

Danneel puts up her hands in mock surrender. "Okay, okay. Sorry I asked."

It's a little later this time--actually lunch time, and busier. A harried-looking guy gives them a bright smile and hands over the crayons when Jack--eventually--asks nicely. The cute waitress is no where to be seen.

Danneel's about to be disappointed when Sophia speaks up. "Is Sophia here?"

The guy gives her a bemused smile. "Sophia? Yeah. Are you guys friends of hers?"

"She has my name," says Sophia, like she's telling him an important secret.

"We had her last week," Danneel explains. "She got attached."

The guy laughs. "I can seat you in her section, no problem. Right this way."

Sophia-the-waitress is just as hot this week as she was last week. Her hair's up in a loose bun and she's wearing a t-shirt with the restaurant's logo across her chest, and she still looks amazing. Danneel would be jealous if she didn't know she could rock the same look.

Sophia-the-waitress gets a bright smile when she sees them at the table. "Hey. Sophia, right?" she asks, crouching down next to Sophia in the booster seat.

"Hi!" says Sophia. "My brother likes your crayons."

"Glad to hear it," says Sophia-the-waitress. She turns her smile on Danneel. "Can I get you guys some drinks?"

"Milk for the kids, water for me, please," says Danneel, giving her a bright smile.

"Coming right up," says Sophia-the-waitress.

"She remembered me," says Sophia proudly.

"Whatever," says Jack, "I bet she remembered me too."

Danneel doesn't respond, mostly because she's kind of embarrassed to be hoping she was remembered too.

*

"So, um, is your hot friend divorced? Or widowed?" asks Nick. "Widowed would be worse."

Sophia glances over from wiping down the table. "What?"

"The smoking brunette who came in with the two kids today."

"Um," says Sophia. "I don't know. She's not actually my friend."

"They asked for you."

Sophia tries to ignore the warm, fuzzy feelings she gets from that. "I had them last week. She's probably just, you know, married."

"Nah," says Nick. "No wedding ring."

"Really?"

Nick glances over at her. "Oh, don't tell me--you're interested?"

"Being a lesbian means you're interested in girls, Nick."

"Right, right," says Nick. "I guess you did see her first. I concede your rights."

Sophia rolls her eyes. "Thanks."

*

"You owe me," says Danneel. She's managed to get Jack and Sophia into Grapevine for four straight weeks, and she's gotten nowhere with hitting on Sophia-the-waitress.

"I owe you?" asks Jensen. "That's your argument?"

"Let's see. Who said, hey, Jensen, my little brother is cute and bi! You should date him! Yeah, that was me. And now you guys are practically married. So you owe me a lot of getting laid."

Jensen rubs his temples. "I thought we got over this in college."

Danneel snorts. "I'm never over using you to get laid."

"Whoopee," says Jensen.

Jensen has been Danneel's BFF since college, and he's absolutely perfect for figuring out if girls are interested. For one thing, he has an awesome gaydar, and for another thing, he's really hot, so straight girls almost always hit on him. Danneel's favorite trick is making girls she likes assume they're dating and gauging who they're more jealous of. It might not be the classiest way to go, but it's certainly effective.

"So when are we going?" he asks.

"Free for dinner tomorrow?"

"Yes." He glares at her. "I don't owe you any more after this."

"Yeah, you so do. You totally adore Jared."

Jensen glares, but it's pretty half-hearted, so Danneel figures he agrees.

Sophia has gotten used to expecting Danneel and her kids for Wednesday lunch, so she's totally shocked when she finds Sophia in her booster seat at noon on a Saturday.

"Hi Sophia!" she says, grinning widely. Sophia manages to grin back, thrown as she is.

Danneel's not at the table, which is even more surprising. Instead, there's a brown-haired man and a pretty blonde woman, both smiling politely. They don't look old enough to be grandparents, but Danneel is pretty young, so maybe.

"Hi, Sophia, hi, Jack!"

"Hi Sophia!" says Sophia.

"This is my mom," says Jack solemnly. "And my dad."

Sophia stares. "Uh. You're--welcome to Grapevine's. I'm Sophia, I'll be your server today."

"Sophia's told us all about you," says the woman. "I guess you must have thought Danneel was their mother."

"Yeah, I kind of assumed," says Sophia.

"She's our nanny," says Jack.

"The kids speak so highly of this place, we wanted to try it out," says the man, ruffling Jack's hair.

"I hear we have the best crayons," Sophia, regaining her bearings. Danneel being a nanny doesn't make her single, and it definitely doesn't make her gay. Nothing has changed. "So, what can I get you folks to drink?"

*

Fate smiles on Danneel, because the usual guy is working front of house, and he seats Danneel and Jensen in Sophia's section without even having to be asked. Which would have been pretty awkward.

Sophia looks surprised when she sees them at the table, and she definitely gives Jensen a second look, but it's one Danneel can't quite read, not the open lust she's seen from a lot of people.

"Liked the lunch so much, I thought I'd try out the dinner," says Danneel, winking at Sophia.

Sophia smiles back. "Can I start you two off with some drinks?"

"Corona," says Jensen, flashing her his best smile. Sophia smiles back, polite and not at all fazed.

"Guinness and a water for me, please," says Danneel, with her own winning grin.

"Coming right up," says Sophia.

"That's her?" asks Jensen.

"That's her."

"She's cute."

"She's totally not checking you out," says Danneel smugly.

"Not yet," says Jensen. "But I haven't turned on my charm."

Danneel rolls her eyes.

About halfway through their entrees, Danneel is feeling pretty justifiably awesome. Jensen has definitely been sweet and a little flirty, and Sophia hasn't reacted at all. Which doesn't necessarily guarantee she's gay, or interested in Danneel, but it's sure as hell not a bad thing.

"She's totally a lesbo," says Jensen, spearing a carrot. "And, just so you know, I called your brother and told him to get over here to take me to a movie, so I'm leaving you alone to work your gay magic on her." He grins and winks. "So now we're even."

Danneel kicks him under the table, but she can't keep a grin off her face. "I'm withholding judgment until I get laid."

*

Sophia is in a bad mood. Danneel coming in wearing a killer dress and looking smoking wouldn't have been bad on its own--on its own it would have actually been awesome--but she comes in with a total douchebag who keeps making eyes at Sophia. And Sophia knows she's hot, but Danneel's hotter, and checking out other girls on a date is just always a no-no. She just hopes the chump isn't actually Danneel's boyfriend, because Danneel could do so much better.

Not that Sophia has any strong opinions about that or anything.

The jingle of the door chime jolts her from her thoughts and she gives the giant guy who walks in a polite smile. "Table for one, sir?"

The guy smiles, showing off deep dimples. "Oh, no, actually, I'm just looking for my boyfriend and my sister. I'm supposed to pick up him up for a date. Is it okay if I go and look for them?"

"Sure, go ahead," says Sophia. She watches him curiously as he pokes around, and then nearly falls over when he goes over to Danneel's table and gives the douchebag a kiss.

Okay, she didn't see that one coming.

They talk for a few minutes, and then tall guy ruffles Danneel's hair, which makes her glare at him, and he takes the other guy's hand as they walk out.

Questionably-douchey guy gives her a smile and a "Thank you," as he leaves, and Sophia really has no idea what to think.

In the end, she stops by Danneel's table. "Can I get you anything else?"

"Just the check."

"He didn't leave you to pay the whole thing, did he?" she asks, unwilling to let it go. She might never get Danneel alone again.

Danneel laughs. "He left me some cash, at least. Apparently Jared really wanted to catch the movie, so I got left behind. This is why, by the way, you should never set your best friend up with your little brother."

"He didn't exactly look like the little brother."

"God, I know. He got taller than me at age twelve. I could still beat him up for a few years, at least, but it was pretty annoying."

"I bet. I'll just go get you the check."

Something about the way Danneel looks when she gets back with the bill--pretty, yeah, but kind of tired and content, like she just wants to close her eyes and rest for a while--makes it impossible for her to just leave again.

"I met Sophia and Jack's parents today."

"Oh yeah?"

"Apparently they really like it here."

"It's not just your pretty face that keeps us coming back," Danneel teases, and Sophia flushes.

"I thought you were their mom," she admits.

"You know, somehow that never even occurred to me," says Danneel. "I might just be not ready to be a mom. Aside from the whole gay thing."

Sophia blinks. "Oh."

Danneel smiles at her. "In case you were wondering, this is the part where I'm hoping you say, oh, hey, me too and then I ask you out."

Sophia's floundering a little bit, but she knows her line here. "Oh, hey, me too."

Danneel's smile gets even wider, and it looks really good on her. "When do you get off work?"

"Around ten."

"Want to grab dessert?" asks Danneel.

Sophia feels her own grin breaking out, wide and ridiculous. "Love to."
