Cadoc Phillips, having dropped off his little sister among several of her friends in one of the Hogwarts Express train compartments, found one for himself and made himself comfortable. Soon enough, he expected, someone or another was bound to come searching for him and drag him off to the Prefect compartment for the usual round of pre-term announcements. In the meantime, however, he was perfectly content to enjoy a few moments of peace and quiet, a book of crossword puzzles on the table and a bag of Bertie Bott's at his elbow.

He glanced up and grinned when someone pushed the door of his compartment open and peeked inside. "Carys!" he greeted his younger and decidedly quieter housemate. "Good to see you."

It seemed to take forever to find him. Carys tried to be as unobtrusive as possible as she searched the compartments, but in cases where it was a bit more difficult to see who was inside, she'd had to open the door and then apologize profusely when it turned out not to be the person she was looking for.

It was a relief, then, to finally open a compartment door and find Cadoc sitting there. "Hello, Cadoc." She hovered by the door and gave him a shy smile. Her gaze turned briefly to the crosswords he'd been working on, and then she glanced back at him anxiously. "Am I interrupting?"

"Not at all, not at all," he closed the booklet and scooted over a bit to give her room. "I'm merely easily bored, and not sleepy, ergo I brought along something to do during the train ride." Cadoc gave Carys an encouraging sort of grin, and wondered if this would be the year when she would actually come out of her shell at last. "So, I believe there was a promise for an accounting of the Quidditch game?"

If he were looking for her to come out of her shell, he'd picked exactly the right question to do it. Quidditch was one of the few things Carys would talk about at length, and she was comfortable enough with him that she didn't restrain herself overmuch on it.

"Oh, it was brilliant," Carys told him, her face lighting up. She stepped in and closed the door behind her, then took a seat on the bench opposite him. There, she went into an account of the game with youthful enthusiasm. "And then the Argentine Seeker caught the Snitch, and the entire stadium went crazy!" she finished.
