Murderer Still At Large
-- Aaron Stanford
It has been over a week since the death of Kingsley Shacklebolt, and only now has the Ministry officially released statements to The Daily Prophet - statements which give concrete and long-awaited information.
"We are obviously very saddened by the death of such a great man," said the current Chief Warlock, Cameron Newbury. "The Wizengamot and other, impartial Ministry officials representing each of the deparment's are working very hard to decide who will take over the position of Minister. That individual will have a lot to live up to." He proceeded to outline the candidates who are in the lead: Zara Quince, the head of the Department of International Magical Cooperation; the hard-working Healer and researcher, Hassad Bennigan; the well-known, well-connected author, Ole Gadsby; and Una Atherton, the straight-forward Obliviator.
Head Auror, Margaret Weldon, made a statement, saying, "We believe we
have discovered the cause of death, the exact details of which will remain private for the time being. However, we can confirm that it was a murder and that we have not yet caught or identified the culprit. We are offering a reward to anyone who contacts us with information that will help us to catch the person who committed such a horrible crime."
Tuesday's ceremony for our late Minister was attended by wizards and witches from all over the world. Minister candidate, Zara Quince, looking tired but determined, has been in meetings with international officials all week. "They are sympathetic and have been very understanding" she commented to The Daily Prophet. "No one's giving up."
The Wizengamot will elect Shacklebolt's replacement Thursday of next week, October 22. Minister candidate, Ole Gadsby, stated that "with any luck, I'll be dressing up as Minister of Magic for Hallowe'en."
