I find it interesting that the arrival and subsequent departure of several hundred pigeons, all bearing messages, goes without note from any of the castle staff. Perhaps they were a gift, in the barest sense of the word, from our lord protector.

Should I be grateful that we weren't saddled with another invasion? Maybe you don't realize the mess hundreds of pigeons can cause.

Messenger pigeons are probably cleaner than wild ones, but I still wouldn't recommend eating them. Not when there's an entire forest nearby.
