Actually, he's overdue to become a regional guy. But the company won't promote him for some reason. I think it's because even though he's earned a spot, we already have two regionals, and neither of them is going to retire or die anytime soon.
I just want out of this job very badly. A week can't go by where I don't have to strongly strangle back the intense desire to just say "fuck this place" and walk off. The few things about this job that had earned some modicum of loyalty from me are gone.
I wish I'd stayed, to be honest. I'd be making about that by now, instead of rolling back to less than I made when I was first hired (I just got back to that $8.25 this year, after two years with the booze barn).
I have more people than I like there...and now I'm on light duty due to a broken toe, meaning one less backroom person(I do pulls every day now and backroom more than I do floor..)
and I'm getting attitude for doing it...it's annoying as hell and I'd quit if I could afford to
As much as a pain in the ass as it probably would have been, taking the keyholder position would be your most likely best path outta there. Prospective employers tend to look favorably on demonstrable progress within your job history.
I refuse to accept that much responsibility (and with being the low man on the management totem pole, all the shitty shifts no one else wants) for another 25 cents per fucking hour. It's insulting.
