Hope has nothing to do with it. I've left paper within easy reach, and he's ignored it. The last cat I owned (who was a die-hard shredder) would have chewed it up.

I'm never exactly a ray of sunshine. It's just not in my nature. Well, very very rarely. And there's usually an outside influence and alcohol involved.

I still remember that first two weeks' vacation I took... did nothing, slept in every day... that was probably the best vacation of my life.
