These People Are Trying To Kill Me

Sep 15, 2008 00:25

Tonight's drive home was unusually traffic-free (and stress-free, as a result). Right up until I had to change lanes to the right. Then, this asshole shoots up behind me (from a far way away) and tries to actually pass me in the lane before it ends. There was only 50-70 feet or so left, so shocked at the stupidity of this stunt, I lay on the horn ( Read more... )

I see it every day.. And I'm driving a giant vehicle that weighs almost 40,000 lbs. Why some people think it's a really good farking idea to 1. cut me off and then 2. get up on their brakes because they're now 5 feet off the bumper of the car in front of them... is beyond me.

Luckily I have a REALLY loud horn. Dumbfucks.
I wish I had the power to take people's licenses away.

Man, come drive your rig in Cali. Then you'll have some idea of what I go through in a day of work. Shit like that, it's just so common that you get used to it.

But hopefully not so used to it that you start doing it yourself. :P

It's not a rig, it's a coach bus, but same idea more or less. Except instead of consumer goods, I'm hauling PEOPLE who probably don't want to die due to some moron who thought cutting me off was a good idea.
Drivers around Toronto are rather shitty, I've driven in Chicago and Philly and found them better than Toronto drivers. They're all so fucking stupid >.>

It's FAR worse in the south. Dear mother of Christ, is it ever.

I'd say it's on par or worse than NYC proper.

Taking away licenses wouldn't help much here, since a surprisingly large percentage of people on the road are driving without one anyway.

I've seen your driving first hand, it's not picture perfect either. ;)

I never claimed to be perfect.

I just don't drive like a prick, which is apparently the norm in large cities.

Now you're ready for Tyler, TX. What gets me are the people who see a big honking fire engine coming up in their rearview mirror with overheads on and sirens wailing and they think it's okay to just continue on. Even better are the ones who stop in the middle of the road.

BTW, I survived Ike. Ike was a proper tropical storm for once.

Stupidity is a genetically transmitted disease. We can cure it with mandatory sterilization.

Ike (like the one before it) missed us here completely. Did I call that one, or what?

Ike destroyed Galveston and surrounding communities. I liked vacationing in Galveston. I just hope they saved the Elissa (one of the few schooners still in operation) before Ike hit.

Ignorance can be cured. Stupidity can't.

Missed us, hit you.

We have plenty of both, and too many people anyway. Let's take the broader approach.
