Your right in the way Adam dealt with Ianto. Instead of giving him a new personality like he did Tosh and Owen, or a new relationship the way he did Jack, he just pushed him aside. He didn't give Ianto a role in the new team, and that loose end is eventually what did him in.

Very nice job. Yes, Ianto did just fade back into the shadows and there was a lack of Janto goodness until the end when Ianto seemed to realize what Jack meant to him. Jack didn't seem to notice Ianto until the "I'm a murderer, lock me up" spiel.
