Before this weekend, the only convention I've ever attended is Polaris. So, from yesterday and today, I have learned that not all cons are the same (even if you see many of the same people).
Ah, okay. You just capitalized his entire name so I thought it was a super!excited sort of thing. :) (I've read one of his books, The [Something] Tapestry. It mostly took place in the past.)
The AU Canadian History panel wasn't so much about how Change X would result in New History Y as it was about identifying key moments of history (mostly wars) where, if things turned out differently, we'd be living a much different life. They just didn't spend much time discussing how our lives would be different.
Although there was a panel on creating alternate AUs that may have been helpful to you. (We didn't attend that one so I can't give you any pointers.)
