House fandom makes me so very, very tired. well, the show itself isn't too good right now, but the fandom is just unpleasant. also, there damn well better be some House/Foreman stuff popping up, because a hell of a lot of fanfic has come out of much less significant scenes involving House and Wilson, House and Chase, House and basically any guy ( Read more... )

house, rant, tv

I thought I'd gotten used to the accent halfway through Season 1 .... until I heard him say 'valet' tonight. heh.

Wilson's not much of a Jeeves, though ... no government agency would EVER catch wise to Jeeves' Afganistani heroin deals

what the hell WAS Wilson freaking out about in that scene?

House fandom makes me so very, very tired.

Tell me about it! If it weren't for my current NaNo project, I would totally be writing a rant right now about how the fandom is full of asshats and Foreman is just great. I don't like him as much as I like House (obviously) or Cuddy, but grrr! Go, Foreman, go! *is a contrary bitch*

I don't want to say that the Foreman thing is a racial thing, cause a) maybe it's not and b) that road leads to wank, but I can't shake the feeling that if say Chase was House's new almost-equal, co-duckling trainer, there'd be a lot more fic about it. le sigh

not even going to start on the gender issues in House fandom. my ire at the moment was stoked by this comment, and others in that post by the same person. I'm not thrilled with the new addition to the cast - I think the characterization on the existing duckling cast is thin enough (so thin that they had to make an entire episode with an outside character EXPLAINING their characters) without adding someone new to the mix, but the whole "uch, another set of tits!" shit is just ... ew. and the fact that so many people agree is even eww-er ( ... )

I don't think the Foreman thing is a racial thing. I think it's a personality thing. I mean, come on: Foreman just has no style. He's so stiff and socially clumsy and self-righteous. Why should we even consider the possibility that he has something to be self-righteous about? This is House World, in which House's conduct is Not At All A Problem.

Seriously. I love House; he's a great anti-hero - one of the funniest I've seen in awhile. But PEOPLE!

(So anyway. I think you can tell how I feel about fandom's bias against the straightlaced.)

not even going to start on the gender issues in House fandom.

Ew, YES! I won't start now either, but that reminds me of the other rant I have to write.

what, you mean like how House could burn the hospital to the ground while it was filled with orphans and grandmas and Cuddy STILL wouldn't fire him?

Foreman seems like he comes from a different universe than everyone else on the show, sometimes. a "yes, he's a great doctor, but he's also CRAZY BATSHIT INSANE and really only helps a tiny bit more than he hurts" universe. which I love, but apparently isn't too popular

I fear that this statement will lead to many House fans chasing me out of town waving their torches, but...I just can't get into this season of House.

no, me neither. I'm still watching, but it's really not very good. I don't think the writers have any idea what to do with the show anymore, and ... it's nice that they're trying to freshen it up with new people, they're just not doing a very good job
