After last night's exciting activities
involving an elevator, I finally went to bed around 2am. Don't know what time I actually fell asleep, but whatever.
At just after six, the fire alarm began sounding. Being woken up from a rather nice sleep, I had a few minutes of wondering what the heck was going on, and if maybe one of us had accidentally set the alarm clock, etc, etc. After sticking our heads out the door a few times, I finally called down to the front desk and 15 or 20 rings later, a rushed-sounding woman answered with something like, "False alarm, sorry about that." I relayed the message to the half-dozen or so people in the hallway talking with my roommates, the alarm stopped, and we went back to bed.
Again having a nice sleep, the alarm was tripped again at about twenty to nine. Con security, who was walking up and down the hallway this time, said to remain calm and wait until he heard from Mark for further directions (no idea who Mark is, but the security guy had a headset and looked official, so it's all good). After several minutes, it changed from an in intermittent droning sound to a rapid beeping, at which point Security Guy started knocking on doors and telling us to evacuate. So the three of us grabbed a few things, put on our shoes, and headed downstairs.
We're on the twelfth floor, remember.
Everyone outside was mostly calm, although a couple people were annoyed, but that's to be expected after having your sleep interrupted twice, yes? I suggested we should go scout for famous people outside in their pyjamas, but my roomies didn't go for it. *g* (Although Tanya Huff was right next to us outside, in her pyjamas and wet hair. That'd suck, to have been in the shower when the building was evacuated.)
We sat around for maybe 15 or 20 minutes before they let us back inside. (Un)Trusty Ol' Elevator 3 is out of commission thanks to our adventure last night, so there were 4 elevators for however many people trying to get back upstairs... and 2 of those weren't moving from whatever floor they were on.
So we took the stairs. Twelve flights of 'em.
vicki_james98 is evil.
The alarm started again about 5 minutes after being let in.
We're currently in our room, and the thing's still beeping. It's been going for the past 20+ minutes now. It's irritating.
Oh! It just stopped! *celebrates*
Anyway, my roomies are now waiting on me to go have a shower, so away I go.
Most exciting. Con. Ever. (Ignore the fact I've only been to two.)
