Goodness! And I mean it. Good on you for doing all that baking, as well as waiting through the television protocols, and goodness incanate in that lovely cake you baked and photographed: it truly looks a dream. I uderstand your explanation about why the TV producers overlooked it (flash beats quality every time, I'm afraid) but I don't understad how they could pass up tasting such a sensational combination of flavours. I'm so glad you were able to transport the cake home, and to enjoy it there. Speaking of Penge, your dinner party menu sounds delightful, though I might pass on the electric daisies. What's the point of numbing your taste buds when there are so many delicious flavours to savour? (Tell Adrian that I appreciate his securing you a stool.in the studio: I know what it's like to have to stand with a poorly knee: he is such a thoughtful companion.)
We watched the TV programme on Friday night and we were shocked that even cut out the only cake - of the ones that they had picked - that in our opinion deserved to be featured, but that's TV for you.
Re the sorbet, I think the numbing caused by the daisies complements the spiciness of the chilli!
I echo the statements above! Wow - that all looks amazing. I can't imagine the effort all that took! I had no idea the daisies were edible. Where I live, I sometimes see fried squash blossums added to a plate. I've never tried one though....
Thank you! Well they are special 'daisies' - in reality they look more like the centre of a normal daisy (they don't have petals). I love fried courgette/zucchini flowers! Yum!!
We would have stood a better chance if we had decorated a cactus with black icing to resemble a (spiked) dildo!
LOL!
Your cake looks lovely. I could never attempt something like it and have it come out so splendidly. I'd like a slice, but doubt it would survive the distance to Minnesota:)
I think they treated you and the other bakers quite badly really! Up until recently I was often getting regular invites to audiences then after I got a code for the secret Molly Smitten Downs Video shoot I now get coded invites. I can never get to shows n London because they invite me in the same week as the show and at tat late date train tickets are really expensive and then if it turned out I didn't get in I'd be quite mad! I have been to filmings n Sheffield and Manchester before though but they don't seem to happen that often.
I think you cake looks wonderful - Send me a piece over will you please?

I think it's just a matter of finding a good, tested recipe and following the instructions.
