Thank you so much! Glad you enjoy the photos.
Yes Adrian says that it is true that the houses of the time had bad insulation. Ours is no exception, although it dates from 1868.
Oh the Teasmade! Adrian wants one too now (he had always wanted now) but apparently they were never made for the foreign market (and they wouldn't work in the U.S. :-()

My mom is 84 and had central heating put in her house 2 years ago having never had it before. I grew up in that house sleeping in the attic bedroom and it was freezing icy bitterly cold in winter and like a red hot greenhouse in summer!
I love the photos. I'm high up and so far the snows not been as bad for us as it has for you. We are due for snow tonight/tomorrow. Being so high up I'm usually cut off before the rest of the country. It's odd to hear that things are bad down south and we've got like 2 inches here! Also your orchid is the same as one of mine! beautiful isn't it? I saw one about 3 years ago and fell in love with it but didn't buy it and spent years wishing i had as I never saw another one. Then in July this last year I saw one and Steve knew how much I'd kicked myself for not buying the other one that he bought it for me for a birthday pressie.

Nice pics!
I do love snow photos-as long as it is snow that's located far away from me.
