LOL I can't swim myself, and I get inside the sea at most one a year to splash around like a little kid. No interest in swimming pools whatsoever.

I think my fear of deep water is a version of my phobia for heights and All Things Unstable. It's more or less the same as being afraid to climb a ladder.

I love heights but I'm claustrophobic and get the occasional panic attack when I feel I can't breathe... which is not ideal for swimming! lol!

I share your terrible secret. I've tried classes a couple of times, but just have a great fear of getting out of my depth and sinking...! Would like to try again...

I think that some people are just more naturally confident with water.
It's just not in my genes - it's very likely that generations of my ancestors never saw the sea in their lives!

Said that, you should try again and we could compare notes!
