New "scandal" in Switzerland hit today ... the new ID cards for foreign residents that come from outside of the Schengen area but live inside Switzerland (or in fact other Schengen territory countries) allow those residents to travel without a visa in all Schengen countries ( ... )

I see! The shame of having the EU symbol! LOL!

Sadly we're not in the Schengen area: every time we fly to anywhere on the continent we have to go through passport control when we land :-(

I think that's why the Swiss voted for Schengen. When the Europe became the EU they didn't like being sent to stand in the line with people from untidy countries. No. They did *not* like that at out.

Absolutely NOT a referendum. I'm quite scared that the electorate, who are remarkably ill informed at the best of times, might actually vote to leave Europe.

Just kick out all the old farts that haven't got their head around the fact that we haven't got an Empire any more, get the Euro here soon as, sign up for Schengen and get on with business is what I say ...

I think even if there was a majority yes vote in a referendum, the naysayers would still go on complaining. It's a lot easier to blame the French/Germans/Brussels than to face up to the fact that the Empire is dead and Britain's just another middle-sized country.

I suppose that they'd still blame the EU for a number years... but after a while, they'd just have to shut up!

Yay, Bruno for Prime Minister!! (there soon will be a vacancy here, if you are interested!)

As you pointed out, it's rather amusing/tragic how this kind of consideration always seems to work in just one direction.
