Babylonian week-end (part 1)

The week-end came and went in a flash.

On Friday evening we went to see the exhibition “Babylon: myth and reality” at the British Museum.

It was small but interesting, and it covered both the history of the city with a number of archaeological finds and the myths of the Tower of Babel and of the Hanging Gardens. Other interesting sections were ( Read more... )

I just loved the British Museum when I visited London in 2002 where I spent a half day. It was not nearly enough time to see it all, but I sure did try. I was totally exhausted and a bit on antiquity overload when it was all done!

I often get "museum-itis" when I visit large museum.

I think that another visit to London is long overdue now!

Oh, another trip to London is LONG overdue I was only there for 5 days but I sure did get a lot worked in to that trip.

That show was on in Berlin last summer while I was there, but I didn't go because the crowds were too great. You practically had to book a time to buy a timed-ticket. Too much planning for me.

A nice reminder of my trip to London. I went to Babylon during the day, but it was uncomfortably busy. I loved the portrait of Daniel in the lions' den - the lions looked so submissive. Grazie Franco!

Oh yes, I remember that painting.
I particularly loved the Tower of Babel ones as they had made quite an impression on me when I was a child.
